Der Unterschied zwischen Myanmar und Thailand ist sofort spürbar. Die Straßen sind besser, es gibt überall Supermärkte, fast so wie in Deutschland.

I could feel the difference between Myanmar and Thailand at once. The roads are much better, there are supermarkets all over – nearly like in Germany.

Ich entdeckte sogar einen Baumarkt, so etwas habe ich schon seit Monaten nicht mehr gesehen. Da ich unterwegs mein Außenzelt verloren hatte, kaufte ich mir dort direkt eine Plane. Ich möchte sie über mein Innenzelt spannen für den Fall, dass es doch noch mal regnen sollte.

I even spotted a DIY, something I hadn’t seen in months. As I had lost my outer tent on my way, I bought myself a tarpaulin. I intend to stretch it over my inner tent in case it rains again.

Ich fuhr Richtung thailändische Ostküste um von da aus Richtung Süden nach Malaysia zu fahren. Das hat den Vorteil dass ich die Touristenhochburgen, insbesondere Pukhet, weiträumig umfahren kann.

I headed towards the Thai eastern coast in order to go from there to Malaysia in southern direction. As I see it, the advantage of all this is that I will be able to move around the typical tourist centers taking a wide berth, and particularly avoid Phuket.

Anfangs zeltete ich häufig wild bevor ich feststellte, dass die Preise für Unterkünfte in Thailand äußerst moderat sind.

In the beginning, I used to camp wild but then I found out that prices for accommodation are rather low and moderate in Thailand.

Bei dieser Hitze schlafe ich dann doch lieber nicht in meinem Zelt. Selbst wenn ich nur das Innenzelt aufbaue staut sich dort die Hitze, so dass ich dann stundenlang kein Auge zu kriege. Das nächste Mal wenn ich mir ein Zelt kaufe achte ich darauf, dass das Innenzelt möglichst nur aus Moskitonetz besteht und somit besser belüftet wird.

I prefer not to sleep in my tent in this heat. Even if I only put up my inner tent, the heat accumulates in there so there is no chance to get any sleep. Next time I buy a tent, I will make sure that the inner tent consists of mainly mosquito netting and so it will be better ventilated.
