09.04.2017 – Myanmar

Bei meiner weiteren Reise durch das tropische Myanmar fuhr ich durch ein Gebiet, indem ein riesiges Stück Dschungel gefällt worden ist. Jetzt wurde dort damit begonnen Plantagen, vornehmlich für Palmölgewinnung, anzupflanzen.

Traveling on through the tropical Myanmar, I passed through a territory where a huge part of the jungle had been cleared. People had already started planting trees for the production of palm oil there.

Es war unglaublich heiß und schwül und mein Trinkwasser ging zur Neige. Zum Auffüllen meiner Vorräte stoppte ich an einer Baumschule, in der die Setzlinge für die Plantagen herangezüchtet werden. Die Agrararbeiter luden mich gleich zu einer längeren Pause ein und wir kamen ins Gespräch.

It was terribly hot and humid and I was running out of drinking water. In order to fill it up, I stopped at a tree nursery where they cultivated seedlings for their plantations. The agricultural workers invited me to a longer break and we started talking.

Nach meiner Rast ging es beinahe schattenlos einen steilen Berg hinauf. Mir war es so heiß! Mit letzter Kraft und schweißtropfend erreichte ich die Passhöhe. / After having had a rest and some refreshment, I had to climb a steep mountain where I found no shade whatsoever. I felt so hot! With my last ounce of strength and dripping with sweat I finally reached the top of the pass.

Die anschließende Abfahrt brachte aber auch nicht die erhoffte Abkühlung.

Not even during the following decent did I experience any cooling off which I had hoped for.

Zum Glück fand ich kurz darauf ein Straßenrestaurant, indem ich die dringend benötigte Pause verbrachte. Ich war mittlerweile von dieser extremen Hitze und der Bergetappe so überanstrengt, dass ich regelrecht am Zittern war.

Fortunately, I found a restaurant by the roadside shortly after that where I was able to take my desparately needed break. Meanwhile the extreme heat and the mountain ride had overstrained me to such an extent that I had started trembling all over.

Ich gehe nicht oft an meine körperlichen Grenzen doch ab und zu passiert es dennoch. Es lässt sich leider nicht immer vermeiden.

I don’t often push to the very limits of my physical strength but it does happen every now and then. This cannot always be avoided.
