Hallo Leute,

ich bin jetzt schon einige Tage in Albanien und ich muss sagen, bisher gefällt mir das Land auf Anhieb, sehr gut. Die Einheimischen sind so nett und gastfreundlich wie noch nie zuvor. Schon kurz nach der Grenze wurde ich, von der Straße aus, zweimal kurz hintereinander, zum Kaffee in eine Bar eingeladen. Einmal sogar auch, zum Billard spielen.

Hi guys, I am already in Albania for a few days and I must say that this country is pleasing me a lot. The local people are so gentle and hospitable, as I have never seen it before. Shortly after the borders I was already, on the street, invited twice for a coffee into a bar. And once, also to play billiards.

Allerdings wurde ich bereits von Anfang an mit dem drückenden Problem, der Arbeitslosigkeit in Albanien, konfrontiert. Viele, der meist jungen Barbesucher, berichten von ihrer Arbeitslosigkeit und sind oft sichtbar niedergeschlagen. Sie erzählen, dass Albanien für sie keine Perspektive bietet. Trotzdem müssen sie hierbleiben, da sie keine Papiere haben, um ins Ausland zu gehen. Die meisten hier, sprechen Englisch. Manche können auch Deutsch, da viele von ihnen kurzzeitig in Deutschland gearbeitet haben, bis sie wieder zurückgehen mussten.

But I was also confronted, as from the beginning, with the heavy problem of unemployment in Albania. Many of the mostly young bar guests  are telling about their unemployment and are often, visibly, depressed. According to them. Albania does not offer them a real perspective. Despite of this, they must stay in Albania, as they are lacking documentation allowing them to move abroad. Most of them speak English, some also German, as many of them have worked in Germany for a while, until they had to return.
