Paris – 23.11.2019

Von Tours aus ging es weiter an der Loire entlang bis nach Orleans./ I went to Orleans, starting at Tours all alongside the Loire.

Der Fahrradweg am Flussufer ist sehr schön und die Strecke verläuft meist flach. / The cycle path alongside the river is very nice and the route is mainly flat.

Allerdings war jetzt im Winter die Strecke teilweise gesperrt und das sogar ohne eine eingerichtete Umleitung. So musste ich unter anderem mein Fahrrad, eine viel zu steile Böschung mühsam hinaufschieben.

Unfortunately it was partly barred in winter, no detour set up at all. So, among other things, I had to push my bike up an embankment which was way too steep.

In Orleans verließ ich das Loire Tal und fuhr Richtung Paris. Unterwegs zeltete ich in der Nähe eines Feldes. Als ich am nächsten Morgen aufwachte stellte ich fest, dass es klirrend kalt geworden war.

In Orleans I left the Loire Valley and headed for Paris. When I woke up the next morning, I found
out that the air was bitterly cold.

Das Zelt und mein Fahrrad waren mit einer Eisschicht überzogen. Auch der, mit meinem Kocher zubereitete Kaffee, war innerhalb kurzer Zeit nur noch lauwarm.  / My tent and my bike were covered with a layer of ice. Even my coffee, freshly brewed on my cooker, got lukewarm within no time.

Für meinen bevorstehenden Aufenthalt in Paris wußte ich schon wo ich unterkommen kann, da mir Frederic aus La Rochelle, über die Freunde seines Sohnes, eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit vermittelt hat. Aber es ist nicht nur eine gewöhnliche Unterkunft, sondern ich werde auf einem Hausboot übernachten, dass auf der Seine liegt. 

I knew where to stay in Paris in advance, as Frederic from La Rochelle got it for me through some friends of his son. It isn’t any ordinary accommodation but a houseboat on the Seine where I’m going to stay.

Gespannt und mit Vorfreude, wie das wohl sein wird, fuhr ich los. Da das Boot im Norden von Paris liegt, musste ich zuvor quer durch ganz Paris mit dem Fahrrad fahren. Zunächst kam ich an der abgebrannten Notre Dame vorbei.

I was so intrigued with anticipation when I started, not knowing what was going to happen. The boat is located in the north of Paris, so I had to go all the way through Paris on my bike. First I passed Notre Dame which had been burnt down some time ago.

Dann fuhr ich zum Eiffelturm und sah dort den Sonnenuntergang. / Then I carried on toward the Eiffel tower and watched the sunset there.

Sobald es dunkel genug war, wurde die aufwendige Lichtinstallation eingeschaltet. Beeindruckend! / As soon as it was dark enough they switched on the elaborate light installation. Very impressing!

 

Es ist das erste Mal, dass ich am Eiffelturm bin und mich fasziniert, wie unterschiedlich er in der Dunkelheit mit eingeschalteter Beleuchtung aussieht. / It was the first time I was able to visit the Eiffel tower and I was fascinated by the difference it makes when it is lighted in the dark.

Schließlich kam ich zum Triumphbogen und geriet in den riesigen, darum herum führenden Kreisverkehr. / At last I got to the Arc de Triomphe and there I got caught up in the huge roundabout traffic which circles around it.

Was für ein Chaos. Ich war froh, als ich diesen Platz schließlich unfallfrei verlassen konnte. / What chaos! I felt so relieved when I finally was able to leave this place accident-free.

Endlich kam ich zum Boot und wurde von meinen neuen Gastgebern nett aufgenommen. / What chaos! I felt so relieved when I finally was able to leave this place accident-free.

Das Boot ist riesig und erstreckt über zwei Etagen. Eine Wohngemeinschaft teilt sich alle Räumlichkeiten. Hier blieb ich 4 Nächte. / At last I reached the boat and was heartily welcomed by my new hosts. he boat is huge and has two storeys. There is a flat-sharing community, sharing all the rooms. I stayed there four nights.

Das Boot schaukelt übrigens überhaupt nicht und hat mehr Ähnlichkeiten mit einem Haus, als mit einem Schiff. / By the way, the boat doesn’t rock at all and it resembles more a house than a ship.

Ich durfte auf dem Sofa übernachten und hatte eine super Aussicht auf den Fluss. Nachts konnte ich das Leuchten des Eiffelturms sehen. / I was allowed to sleep on a sofa and enjoyed a fantastic view of the river. During the night I could see the illumination of the Eiffel tower.

Am ersten Tag in Paris ging ich mit einigen Bewohnern der Wohngemeinschaft in die nahegelegene Kletterhalle, mit angeschlossener Sauna. Was für eine Wohltat, nach der tagelangen Fahrt durch die Kälte. / On my first day in Paris I paid a visit to the nearby climbing hall with an adjoining sauna with some of the residents of the community. How recreating after the hard stage through the cold air.

Am zweiten Tag schaute ich mir per Fahrrad Paris an und besichtigte das berühmte Louvre Museum. / I was allowed to sleep on a sofa and enjoyed a fantastic view of the river. During the night I could see the illumination of the Eiffel tower.

Dort werden sehr bekannte Gemälde und Kunstgegenstände ausgestellt. Das bekannteste ist die Mona Lisa. / The second day I took a good look at Paris on my bike and also visited the world-famous museum by the name of Louvre.

Im Vergleich zu den anderen , viel größeren Gemälden, ist es aber überraschend klein und der Andrang ist so groß, dass man Schlange stehen muss um es zu sehen. / Compared to some of the much bigger pictures, this one is amazingly small and there is such a crowd in front of it, that you have to wait in line in order to get near enough to actually take a good look at it.
